 I prefer correspondence by email or IM initially so that we have a record of our discussions.  This way I can go back to what you’ve said to confirm what work I should be doing for you so that nothing goes unfinished.  Phone conversations are easily forgotten or reinterpreted.  I don’t want that to happen!
