Gal Friday – (n) a woman who acts as a general assistant in a business office or to an executive and has a wide variety of duties
I didn’t start out to be an “all purpose” employee. It just sort of happened. In businesses where the staff shrinks and responsibilities grow, it was inevitable that I was learning a little of this and a little of that until I had a vast skill set built up. Prior to Your Gal Friday of today, I was a regular, brick-and-mortar, cube farm, employee. Then one day I got yet another “your job is gone” notice. It was then I decided to try my hand at virtual work. It allowed me to continue honing my skills while being able to assist people from around the world on a variety of tasks. I have worked in the following industries: Insurance (personal medical as well as medical malpractice), Automotive, Health Care, Pharmaceutical, as well as touching on a few others in manufacturing and retail. Please check out my profile on Guru.com for all the details. Within those industries I did a variety of tasks which mostly focused on project management and documentation. Of course, there were many other tasks involved - event planning, motivational presentations, testing... it's fun to think of all the different aspects of business I've been able to "play" in. And in 2011, I did something I never thought I'd do. I expanded. Rather than just be a One Gal Show, I decided it was time help more people (businesses and freelancers alike!). It's an exciting future I'm growing. We Gal Fridays all look forward to assisting you! ~Andrea |
